Director of Intel Public Relations Group Bill Kircos recently said that Larrabee, a graphic card designed for the future, won’t be released in the near future. As has been confirmed previously, Intel Larrabee is a computer graphic card that is expected to be able to compete with Nvidia’s GeForce and ATI’s Radeon gaming segment.
“We’re not going to bring new graphic card to the market, at least in the near future,” Kircos said, as quoted from his official blog, May 27, 2010.
“As we mentioned last December, we were unable to meet product development targets,” he said.
For that reason, Kircos said that the company decided to focus on the integrated graphics on the main processor. “We believe the media / HD video and mobile computing is the most important areas occupied in the future,” he said.
Even though Intel Larrabee won’t be released in the near future, but many analysts believe that Intel will still continue the Larrabee project. Some time ago, Intel is rumored to be recruiting a number of HR experience in graphic development.
In addition, Larrabee technology as part of a super-computer parallel computing is still being developed. Intel plans to announce this technology at the International Supercomputing conference event on the HPC Event in Hamburg, Germany, May 30 to June 3 2010.
