Actress Mena Suvari married music producer Simone Sestito in Vatican City, Italy on Saturday. The 31-year-old actress, most famous for her role in American Beauty, told Us Magazine back in March that the event was going to be “very romantic and traditional Italian…we’ll have at least a couple hundred guests. It’s big!” Suvari has many relatives who reside just outside of Rome.
Mena Suvari married Sestito by wearing a gown designed by Stacey Bennet, a friend and owner of Alice & Olivia, on the big day, according to Us Magazine.
Sestito proposed to Mena Suvari back in 2008. “He got down on his knees,” Suvari told Us. “It was very romantic.”
She later told the magazine: “I love him. He’s Italian and my family is part Greek, and it’s all about family and culture… I love his family and it just inspires me to live that kind of life.”
Sestito seems to speak just as highly of the relationship. He told Us, “The thing I love most about her is the understanding. We get each other a lot, so there’s a good connection there.”
Mena Suvari, a Canadian-born actress’, married twice. She had a five-year-long marriage with cinematographer Robert Brinkman before divorcing in 2005.
