Last two days ago, Ali-Ollie Woodson, former lead singer of “The Temptations”, was reportedly died. Many media reported that Ollie Woodson died at 58 after years of battle to cancer. There’s no clear report what type of cancer that Woodson had. Ollie Woodson died at his home in Southern California. Formerly, he had been diagnosed to suffer leukemia since 2008.
Woodson sung with the famed soul group in the 80s and 90s after replacing former Temptations frontman and friend Dennis Edwards. Woodson co-wrote, co-produced and sang the Temptations 1984 hit ‘Treat Her Like a Lady.’ He also sang other Temptations favourites such as ‘Lady Soul’ and ‘Sail Away’.
Billy Wilson, president of the Motown Alumni Association told the Associated Press, “He had this swagger about himself, he was cool. He had a coolness about himself that was really very inviting.
“If we ever asked him to do anything, he never said, ‘Well, it’s going to cost you.’ He’d always say, ‘Yeah, let’s go’. He was just a star performer. Wonderful person. Wonderful, wonderful person. He was very kind.”
Woodson’s last album with the Temptations was 1995′s ‘For Lovers Only,’ although in 2002 he joined the band again for a tour of Japan after their then-frontman Barrington ‘Bo’ Henderson had visa troubles.
Woodson enjoyed a successful solo career and also made several film appearances. He is survived by his wife Juanita and his children.
There’s no immediate reports when Ollie Woodson’s funeral will be held.
