World Cup 2010 Result: Uruguay vs Netherlands Final Score: 2 – 3 — Diego Forlan scored a long-range shot to bring Uruguay level with the Netherlands at 1-1 at halftime of the World Cup semifinal match Tuesday. Forlan curled a left-footed shot from 25 meters in the 41st minute that goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg couldn’t keep out despite getting a hand on the ball.
Forlan’s fourth World Cup goal followed one of the goals of the tournament, from Dutch defender Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
The 35-year-old Netherlands captain lashed a 30-meter shot with his left foot into the top corner in the 18th minute, capping a fine series of passes in the Dutch midfield at Green Point Stadium.
On the second half, Wesley Sneijder and Arjen Robben scored to take a lead at 1-3. On the final moment, Maximiliano Pereira scored to 2 – 3.
Netherlands will meet either Germany or Spain in the final at Johannesburg’s Soccer City stadium on Sunday.
