Luiz Suarez, Uruguayan Hero With A Red Card — Uruguay beat Ghana to advance to World Cup 2010 semifinals. Ghana and Uruguay went to extra time, tied 1-1, after first Ghana and then Uruguay scored in regulation. As the extra time wound down, Ghana was dominating. One good chance after another.

Felipe Melo scored an unfortunate own goal and got red card for a wild stamp on Arjen Robben as Brazil were sunk by the Netherlands to reach the World Cup 2010 semi-final. Two second-half goals – including an own goal by Felipe Melo – over-turned Brazil’s comfortable lead at the interval when they appeared to be re-capturing the football of old.

The three-game suspension can be reduced upon appeal, but it is uncertain whether Jackson will appeal. He pleaded guilty in February to driving under the influence, his second conviction.
