According to research of Pace University in New York City, personal music players are familiar to teenagers, as much as 99.7 percent of people with tinnitus (ringing sound appearance, buzzing or hissing in the ears) also use personal music player.

Between 1985 to 2008, because high-frequency hearing loss and exposure to excessive noise rose almost doubled, from 10.1 percent to 19.2 percent.

According to the study authors Abbey Berg, a professor in the Department of Biology and Health Sciences at Pace University, the teenage girls who listen to personal music devices are 80 percent more likely to experience hearing loss than those who do not use the device. “Other factors in the lives of children, such as poverty, poor air quality, drug abuse and behavior can increase the effects of noise exposure from personal music players” he said.
